Sculptra treatment is a great way to restore youthful facial contours and fill in hollow areas where fat, bone or muscle have been lost. Until now, one of the down-sides has been that bruising has been common from treatment. Bruising occurred due to the use of needles to inject Sculptra and the requirement of multiple passes in different directions to ensure evenness.
A new development in this field is the extension of the use of microcannulas to Sculptra. Very fine disposable microcannulas, as opposed to needles, have already been in common use for the injection of Juvederm and Radiesse at Celebrity Laser Spa. They are blunt-tipped and therefore have a much lower chance of puncturing a vein, which would have lead to bruising. This also makes them safer and more comfortable for the patient. Fewer puncture sites are likewise required.
Now there is a micro-cannula that is the right size (22 guage) for Sculptra. With micro-cannulas, treatment with Sculptra is much more comfortable, is associated with less bruising and is safer overall!
